2020: MASKS & MARCHES

When a shared cultural event erupts, I treat it as if I were in a group of painters who each have to create a piece using only black, white, and grey. Clearly, there will be many painters at work, and each image will share commonalities with one another. And while you must remain vigilant not to let your creation fall into cliche, it isn’t resigned to this fate by any means. The shared constraints in making an image may facilitate novelty, even, because while some of your photos’ attributes are predetermined, this allows more time and energy to leave a unique imprint on the other attributes.

I’ll bring my eyes and my mind. I’ll bring my experiences. I’ll bring myself.

So when the wave of demonstrations radiated in COVID-cursed 2020, through the country and around the world, I decided to capture the moment from my point of view.

ABC: Always be creating.
